Foster Update (Sample)

Annie was delivered to our door this afternoon, complete with crate, toys, and food.  We did not get medical records or glucosamine, but we are promised these will follow by mail.

Annie is friendly, handles well on leash while walking, but may have a particular taste for throwing herself at people's shins, knocking them down if she can.  Despite being on leash, she flattened and knocked the wind out of an eight year-old girl at a park with a quick darting movement from a standing start. No maliciousness or aggressiveness, just a totally uncontrolled play habit. Until we see how typical or ingrained this habit may be, we should question whether she is suited to a home with small (or even medium) children. I'll keep the log you suggested.  This maneuver is not going to do her hip any good, either.

I looks like we'll be getting a visit from Laurie sometime soon, and we will enjoy having her perspective on Annie, given her wealth of experience with Newfs.  Annie is more active than our Thatcher was at the same age.

While it's totally premature to come to any opinion after just a few hours, Annie is clearly very endearing and affectionate, and will "interview" well with potential adopters.

Feel free to forward this as appropriate.  We are very comfortable with Annie's presence here.  She and Thatcher are getting along famously, and Annie's took to swimming with me in the pool and managing the pool steps with obvious familiarity and experience. She's a very good swimmer, and might take very well to water training.  I think the setting here will be good for her stay.
